  • Broughty win City Of Dundee Fours Championship 18 - 16

    Congratulations to Broughty on winning the City of Dundee Fours Championship. The Broughty rink of Lead George Spence, Second Stewart Harvey, Third Bob Petrie and Skip Iain Dorricott played in the City Of Dundee C W Milne Fours Final held at Dudhope BC on Friday 22 August against a Craigie rink Skipped by Tony Hume. Craigie took control of the early ends taking a 6-0 adavantage before Broughty managed to get on the score sheet. The next few ends saw both teams swap shots before the game became peals at 9 - 9. Craigie followed this up with a 4 and 2 to go 6 shots clear with 6 ends to play. The Broughty team failed to lie down and a run of 9 shots saw Broughty take a 3 shot lead into the last end. With eight bowls played Craigie were lying the three shots to tie the game however Bob and then Iain succeeded in drawing third and second shots to secure the victory. Commiserations to Al, Russell, Kevin and Tony who played their part in making the final a memorable occasion full of outstanding bowling from both teams.

    Broughty last won the C W Milne trophy in 2004 - with a rink Skipped by Iain Dorricott with Mark Watson, Alan Blyth and Ron McPherson. 30 years ago, in 1979 Norman Dorricott Skipped and lost the final, though went on to win the trophy in 1980.

    Broughty Bowling Club are holding an EVERYONE WELCOME OPEN DAY on Sunday 30 August from 12 Noon until 4 pm to provide inforamtion on the clubs facilities to those who may have an interest in joining a bowling club. Further information will be displayed here shortly

    Commiserations to the Broughty team of Francis McGrory, John Walker and John Fullarton(SKIP) losing out in the final of the City of Dundee Senior Triples played at Dudhope BC and congratulations to Fairfield on taking the Senior Triples Winners Trophy for 2009
